I am pleased to apply for the role of XXXX. I have 10 years’ experience in systems administration and believe I am an ideal candidate for the position.
I have demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in ICT systems administration. When I commenced in my current role as Senior Systems Engineer at XXXX, NBN had been made available in the state, and most of our customers needed to switch to VOIP systems, as analogue lines were deemed redundant. I initiated the set-up of our company to be a 3cx (VOIP phone system) reseller. I enrolled in several required courses to ensure my knowledge in the 3cx phone system, and migrated all managed services customers over to the 3cx VOIP phone system. This resulted in significant profit for our company, as well as significant savings in phone calls for our clients. I was awarded an Innovation award from my employer for this project.
I have highly developed problem-solving skills. In my current role, one of our biggest customers had multiple remote offices and staff members needed to access the same data from every location. Their e-mail system was a legacy pop3 system and they did not have a domain controller. I explained to the customer that this was an inefficient system for a business their size. I instigated and completed a migration of their e-mails to Office 365, and joined their remote offices together via VPN. I also created a Remote Desktop farm to allow remote users access to the same information. This effectively reduced the time needed to input new users, since only one location needed to be created.
In my current role as a System Administrator, I have honed my skills in troubleshooting and issue resolution, ensuring optimal uptime and performance of critical systems. I have successfully worked alongside multiple internal stakeholders to understand and address business requirements. This collaboration has allowed me to deliver tailored IT solutions that align with organisational goals and drive efficiency.
One of my proudest accomplishments was leading a team of cross-functional experts on a major project to implement a robust backup and disaster recovery solution. This initiative not only enhanced data security but also significantly reduced downtime during critical system failures. By maintaining detailed documentation of system configurations and processes, I ensured seamless execution and continuity during system upgrades and enhancements.
My ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment has been a cornerstone of my success. I possess exceptional problem-solving skills, which have allowed me to resolve complex technical issues promptly. Furthermore, my organisational and time management abilities have enabled me to juggle multiple tasks efficiently, delivering projects on time and within budget.
